About the Geranium of the Year award
Geraniums are one of our most beloved plants – and also one of the most versatile. With their wide range of colors, shapes, scents and expressions, geraniums have a natural place in homes and gardens all year round.
To highlight this diversity, each year the Pelargonium of the Year is chosen – a specially selected geranium or group of varieties that stands out in some way. It may be an unusual expression, beautiful foliage, a special flower shape or a geranium that shows the breadth of the genus in a new way. What they all have in common is that they are healthy, vigorous and have a high beauty value.
The Pelargonium of the Year award is coordinated by Blomsterfrämjandet and is presented annually at Nordiska Trädgårdar, where the geranium is unveiled on the opening day of the fair. Each year, a special ambassador is also given the honor of presenting the Pelargonium of the Year and sharing their passion for the plant on the fair’s stages.
